Match Report

Chesham United Ladies,  met with newly promoted Ascot, Chesham are still struggling with fitness, so drafted in some youngsters, Emily Osbgerby returned to the squad as did debutants Steph Weston and Aoife Hanling, there was also a long awaited return of Kat Bowers, all itching to get into the action.

Fraser picked up a knock last week and was replaced by Weston up front, and Gemma Darvill took up her position at the back.

The home side dominated possession and created opportunities, but they are still playing cautiously, only Niamh Euman was prepared to commit forward and she finished well to open the scoring.  With a 4 goals under her belt from the U18’s match the day before, her confidence was high and when Jo Horwood slotted her through, she hit a left footed lob over the keeper to double the lead.   Lambert had chances that were blocked by the visitors, Ascot tried to pin Chesham back but the back line were solid, half an hour in Osgerby and Barbara Balint were brought into the action, Weston quickly linked up with Balint who on the second attempt rounded the keeper, and watched her shot trickle over the line to make it three, unfortunately for the little Hungarian it was the last of her action as she pulled up and was replaced by Fraser.

Second half saw a the pitch slicken up and test Chesham’s fitness levels, the midfield trio had a quiet game and the usually busy Adams was out of sorts.   Weston was having a frustrating afternoon on her return from WSL but finally found the space to let fire a great shot in the left for the 4th on 55  mins, Bowers and 16 yr old Aoife Hanling introduction livened up proceedings, Fraser struck from range at the keeper but it managed to slip into the net.  Chesham were fully in control, Osgerby's progress continues as she looked comfortable at the back.   Bowers won a free kick and fired it narrowly over, the last action saw Fraser’s cheeky effort find its way in to the net to round up a 6-0 victory.  Ironically the teams meet again next week at the Racecourse ground in Ascot for the 2nd pre lim of the WFA cup.

Squad : Masella, Campbell, Darvill, Harris (Osgerby) Horwood, Delves, Gladwin, Lambert, Adams (Hanling) Weston (Bowers) Euman (Balint)(Fraser)
