Match Report

Chesham were without Captain Dawne Campbell and Nat Adams but Jo Horwood stepped in to her defensive role well and 16 yr old Lydia Niedertubbesing-Lopez debuted with Gemma Fraser up front.

Chesham dominated possession throughout, an excellent performance by the back four made it difficult for Ascot to get in on Lucia Masella’s goal.   Fraser, Lambert and Niedertubbesing-Lopez went close in the first half  but the home side held firm at the interval.

The second half provided more of the same, Chesham kept patience and possession finally wearing Ascot down.

Kat Bowers introduction gave the visitors the additional creativity required. Niamh Euman went close when Lambert cut the ball back to her but it was Tash Smith who opened the scoring with a great finish at far post to give Chesham a deserved lead 10 minutes into the second half.

The visitors didn't have to wait long for the second goal as Emma Delves drove at the heart of Ascots defence laying the ball off to Bowers who finished well for a first goal on returning from injury.

Chesham remained dominant and Sarah Hazel added some energy into the midfield and youngster Aoife Hanling showed good qualities down the right hand side.   Chesham will face Whyteleafe in the next round which will take place on 8 October.

Squad Masella, Darvill, Harris, Horwood, Lambert (Hanling), Smith, Fraser, Gladwin, Delves, Euman (Hazel), Niedertubbesing-Lopez (Bowers)
